THE WELLAND CANALS AND WATERS PROJECT - HOME
Get the PDF here at Sources and Uses. Also, check out the video clips below - but they may need time to buffer in Weebly's system (a notorious problem).

This shows the water entering the Canal in Port Colborne, at Main Street. Aside from a much smaller amount flowing in at Lock 8, this is the source of all the water for the Welland Canal.
These two clips show water leaving the Canal at Lock 1, as a ship is lowering.
Here's a shot of water in the tail race of the generating station at Lock.
These clips show the water leaving Lock 1 that doesn't go through the lock itself - left, the spill in the spillway beside the generating station, and right the combined water leaving the generating station and the spillway.

This is Twelve Mile Creek in St. Catharines. This is effectively the tail race (outflow water) for the Decew Falls Generating Station; this accounts for about 98% of the water in this creek.

Compare this to the water entering the canal as seen in the first video clip - it's pretty much the same.
